Dr. Erik Langsjoen

Dr. Erik Langsjoen

Dr. Langsjoen entered the private practice of orthodontics in the St. Cloud area in the summer of 1998. Prior to that time Dr. Langsjoen had been practicing orthodontics as an educator, clinician and administrator in the U.S. Air Force Dental Corps. When he left the Air Force, he was the Chairman and Program Director of the U.S. Army and Air Force Graduate Program in Orthodontics, having founded that residency and served as its first chairman. He was also the chief orthodontist of the Air Force, serving as the Special Consultant to the Air Force Surgeon General for all orthodontic matters. In his nine years in orthodontic education, Dr. Langsjoen taught orthodontic, oral surgery, periodontic, prosthodontic and general dentistry residents in the specialty of orthodontics. As a clinician, he cared for military servicemen and women and their families in the United States, Japan, Germany and Spain.

Having grown up in St. Cloud, Minnesota, Dr. Langsjoen graduated from Tech High School in 1968 and Gustavus Adolphus College in 1972 where he majored in both Chemistry and German. During his junior year he studied abroad at Albert Ludwig’s University in Freiberg, Germany. Entering the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry after college, Dr. Langsjoen graduated in December, 1975 and joined the U.S. Navy Dental Corps as a general dentist, serving in Okinawa, Japan and San Diego, California. He returned to the University of Minnesota to earn a Master of Science degree and his Specialty Certificate in Orthodontics in 1981. Upon graduation he entered the Air Force as an orthodontist and was promoted to the rank of Colonel in 1994.

Dr. Langsjoen is a board certified orthodontist, having become a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics in 1990. In addition to his Air Force teaching, Dr. Langsjoen taught on the dental school faculties of the University of Minnesota and the University of Texas at San Antonio. He served on the University of Minnesota cleft palate board and the U.S. Air Force worldwide cleft palate board for a total of 13 years. He was elected to Fellowship in the American College of Dentists in 1995. He was twice awarded the Air Force Meritorious Service medal in addition to the Air Force Commendation medal. Upon leaving the Air Force he was decorated with the prestigious Legion of Merit medal. His scholastic honors include membership in the Omicron Kappa Upsilon honorary national dental society and Iota Delta Gamma (now Phi Beta Kappa) honorary scholastic society.

Dr. Langsjoen is past president of the American Association of Military Orthodontists and was a member of the College of Diplomates of the American Board of Orthodontists. He is currently a member of the American Association of Orthodontists, the American Dental Association, the Minnesota Dental Association, the West Central District Dental Society the St. Cloud Dental Society, the Minnesota Association of Orthodontists and the Midwestern Society of Orthodontists.

Married to the former Mary Lynn Copouls of Minneapolis, the Langsjoen’s have two children, Mia, age 24 and Sten, age 21. Both Mia and Sten are still in school. The Langsjoen’s make their home in south St. Cloud.

Dr. Rebecca Hanson

Dr. Rebecca Hanson

Dr. Rebecca Hanson is a published author and public lecturer. She received her doctorate degree from the University of Minnesota and obtained a certificate in orthodontics from St. Louis University.

She is a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics and has been a practicing orthodontist since 1998.

Dr. Hanson maintains memberships with the American Dental Association, American Association of Orthodontists and the St. Cloud Dental Society.
